Adding an additional user to an affiliate station

Posted by Christopher Wojno Mon, 01 Oct 2007 19:20:00 GMT

Sometimes, you want to have 2 or more signers for each affiliate station. This is useful if you want several people to be able to sign affidavits for that station. AdTracker allows you to do this. This tutorial appears long, but this is a very detailed walk-through. It consists of the following, basic steps:

  1. Create the new affiliate signer (User)
  2. Add him or her to the proper station
  3. Authorize him or her as a signer

Assumptions

  • The affiliate station you are adding your signer to already exists
  • You are an affiliate relations personnel (if you don’t see the menu options described below, you are not an affiliate relations personnel, you’ll need to ask for this permission if you do not already have it)

Step-by-Step

  1. Log into your AdTracker Application using your username and password (if you are not logged in already)
  2. Hover over the “Manage Affiliates” button (it’s at the top) and click “Users”
  3. Click the “New user” link at the left
  4. Fill in all the fields that are relevant and required
    1. Enter the new user’s Real First Name and Real Last Name of your signer you are adding to the affiliate station
    2. Enter his or her e-mail address to which you want reminders sent
    3. Give him or her a password, make it at least 8 letters (case sensitive!), numbers, or symbols (remember to write it down as you will need to give this password to your new signer!)
    4. It is highly recommended that you arrange a security question and answer for your signer. This is used in case they lose his or her password. It’s not required, but it can save you and your affiliate time later on down the road
    5. Finally, give him or her a “Username.” This is the “Login ID” he or she will use when logging into AdTracker with the password you provided above
    6. Make sure “Activated” is checked
  5. Check the “Signer” Role in the “Roles” section (near the bottom)
  6. Click Create, you’ll see a confirmation screen, make sure all the information is correct. If any errors are indicated, make the corrections and click “Create” again until no more errors are reported
  7. Hover over “Manage Affiliates” (at the top) and click on “Stations”
  8. Type the station call sign into the search box at the top right and click “Search”. If you get a list of stations, pick the station are to which to add your new affiliate. If you see no list, but see the correct station details, simply proceed to the next step
  9. Scroll down until you see “Members”
  10. Click the link “Modify memberships” (it’s located at the bottom of the colored box directly below “Members”)
  11. At the very bottom of the page, type the name of the signer you added in step 4
  12. Click the search button, you will receive a list of users who match your search
  13. Look for the signer’s name you added in Step 4
  14. Change his or her title, if necessary
  15. Click Assign directly to the right of the signer, you will see that the affiliate has been added to the station
  16. Look for the newly added affiliate and click the button to the right of his or her title that says: “Authorize”. If all is well, you will see at the top that the signer is now able to sign for that station

That’s all. Just make sure that the new signer is authorized to sign for the correct station. It’s a good idea to make sure they are able to log in as well. Remember, do not e-mail passwords to your signers. It is not secure.

XML REST API

Posted by Christopher Wojno Fri, 10 Aug 2007 15:37:00 GMT

I have completed the basic functionality of an XML database request/response system. That means, if you have other applications that you desire to use the information contained in AdTracker™, this can be simply accomplished by making REST requests just like a browser does. The data is served up in XML format, so applications can use widely available libraries to reconstruct the data accurately.

Of course, your data is always maintained securely, as a login and proper privileges are still required to access information.

What is AdTracker?

Posted by Christopher Wojno Thu, 09 Aug 2007 20:42:00 GMT

AdTracker™ is revolutionary software that does quite a few things, but it primarily helps your affiliates sign and helps you keep track of your affidavits1. AdTracker’s™ home is on the Internet; it’s a web application, so there are no more paper affidavits to deal with. No more stamps. No more envelopes. No more lengthy transit times. No more costly mistakes.

You can:

  1. Keep track of your affiliates
  2. Provide your affiliates with affidavits to sign
  3. Look for signed affidavits
  4. Look for those affidavits which didn’t get signed
  5. Print off your affidavits
  6. More things than can be listed here!

Everything to prepare you and your team for and make painless the dreaded audit.

Click here for a more in-depth look at AdTracker’s™ features!

Perspectives

I have designed AdTracker™ with many different people in mind. First, the Signer: your affiliates. I know as well as you do, they HATE filling them out and signing them. Not to advocate for the devil here, but why shouldn’t they? They come in the mail, they have to fill out the details concerning the station, the times, everything. Then he or she has to sign it and mail it back. Depending on how many times a month this happens, it can become annoying. AdTracker™ saves them time and that saves you time as affidavits are no longer a chore to complete and sign. AdTracker™ is a better product for you, the network, because when the affiliates are happy, you’re happy.

But I didn’t skimp on the necessities you or your affiliate relations team need to manage affidavits in the 21st Century. AdTracker™ does away with the big, steel file cabinets full of folders, stuffed with signed affidavits. It does away with having to check them all every month to see which affiliates have not yet signed their affidavits. What a waste of time and talent! Focus on more important tasks, the time wasted on filing could be better spent procuring additional accounts or maintaining troubled affiliates. With AdTracker™, you can do that, and keep your advertisers happy.

How is this possible? Perspective.

More

Not fully convinced? Nor should you be! You have to see AdTracker™ for yourself to believe it and fully appreciate it. I have prepared a little video demonstration. It does not cover everything (there is so much to cover!), but it will introduce you to the process of signing affidavits. It will prove just how easy and quick it really is. The video demonstration was filmed in real-time with one, uninterrupted take.

I can also offer you a more full (but by no means complete) list of features. Take a look around!

1 Assuming you want to track affidavits, if you don’t then AdTracker™ doesn’t do what you need.

If you want to get a feel for how AdTracker™ works from the perspective of those who will use it, take a look at this video demonstration (approximately 11MB) of an affiliate signer using AdTracker™. You can also view it on the web.

The above video guides you through the process of an affiliate signing into AdTracker™ to sign his affidavits. A sample affidavit is discussed and explained. A time-saving trick is revealed as well as additional features of the application.
